How to Write a PR Placement Brief That Gets Accepted Quickly
A short template for a placement brief: goal, market, format, material, links, deadline and budget, with the details outlets ask for most often.
A clear brief saves a round of questions and shortens the time to publication. It does not need to be long; it needs to answer what the outlet and the coordinator will ask anyway.
The essentials
- Goal: launch, reputation, market entry, SEO visibility or expert positioning.
- Target market and language.
- Preferred format: press release, article, guest post, interview or expert column.
- Company or personal brand name and website, if there is one.
- Budget range and preferred deadline.
The material
Attach the finished text if you have it, or a headline and the key facts if you want it written. Include quotes approved by the person quoted, and make sure numbers and claims can be checked.
Links and mentions
List the page you want readers to visit and how the brand should be named. Outlets have their own link rules, so give a preferred option and an acceptable alternative.
Restrictions to mention up front
Say if the topic is regulated: finance, crypto, health, gambling or legal services. Many outlets restrict these topics, and knowing early avoids a rejection after the article is written.

The order form asks for exactly these fields; a website is optional. Submitting the brief is free. The coordinator confirms availability, timing and the final price, and PayPal payment is requested only after the terms are agreed.
Example brief
Goal: announce a product launch in Germany to small business owners. Market and language: Germany, German. Format: press release, or an article if the outlet prefers it. Material: an English draft and approved quote from the CEO; translation needed. Link: the German product page, with the brand name as the mention. Restrictions: none. Budget: a range in USD. Deadline: within the next four weeks.
A brief like this lets the coordinator shortlist outlets, confirm availability and quote a final price without another round of questions.
